Pots o’plenty

Posted on 14 Jun ’11 by Nikki Murray

The number of potted plants in my home is slowly growing. I clip lots of ivy leaves and sit them in a glass of water near the window until they develop roots. It may take longer than buying new plants, but it’s the thrifty alternative and I get to watch new life sprout under my roof.

Banana Leaf Modern Thai

Posted on 24 Feb ’11 by Nikki Murray

We had lunch today at Banana Leaf today and I have to say it was one of the more pleasant eating experiences I’ve had around Mason, of late. After being seated in their main dining area by the large window that overlooks Main Street, we started out with some delicious banana leaf spring rolls. By the time we’d finished them, I’d already started to relax and look forward to the main course. I’m a little timid about eating Thai food, so I played it safe and ordered a Thai iced tea (no bubble tea for me, this time) and their Thai fried rice w/chicken dish. Not having time for a dessert course, we took a couple of mini cakes to go.

In all, it was a pleasant eating experience. The crowd seems to be pretty light at lunchtime, and the menus are different for dinner so I plan to return and try them out then, too. If you live in Mason, OH, and haven’t been there yet, you’re missing out. If you’re just passing through, stop by and give them a try.

Cinci Zoo

Posted on 16 Oct ’10 by Nikki Murray

Everyone got in the car late this morning to head downtown. With the weather finally cooling off, I was anxious to see the autumn colors displaying all over the zoo. Unfortunately, I hadn’t realized it was also trick-or-treat day there. We spent more time dodging carelessly-steered strollers and walking around herds of the crazies instead of actually being able to view animals at the zoo.

Regardless of the crowded insanity, we still managed to have a bit of fun before heading elsewhere.
