The photo above was taken on his 40th birthday. Today would have been his 60th. I should be with him or calling him and chiding him about becoming such an old man, but I can’t. I can only look through photos, wishing he was still here to celebrate with while eating white angel food cake covered with chocolate frosting.

What a beautiful collection of photographs. One of the things that sort of resonates is the laughter, what a beautiful legacy to have left his kids and relatives. The one with you and the spirograph, wow, amazing how much your daughters look just like you did at that age. {{hugs}}
I’m glad I took his boxes of photos when I cleaned out his apartment. Not long before, I’d first scanned and then given my aunt all the photos he’d held onto that belonged to my grandmother. So, I have many digital copies of the old photos, but it’s nice to have some I can hold in my hand as well. There is something about the act of holding that memory in your hand that is very powerful.
I guess I’m too close to my girls every day to really notice that they might look like me in some way, but they definitely have my attitude now and then. :)
