We made a long and boring drive to Columbus last night to stand in line at the Studio 35 Cinema for a Smodcast with Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier. I hadn’t seen that many nerds in one place since SXSW. The lady in front of me had a bacon tattoo on her arm and a Speak-n-Spell text message ringtone on her phone. There were also more balding men with ponytails than I could count.
The drafthouse was pretty standard. It smelled as old as it looked, with a few weird exceptions, but I love all the old commercials and movie previews they always show while you’re waiting. Plus, who doesn’t love free popcorn and soda refills?

fancy bathroom sinks, but crappy barely-flushing toilets. hmm...

mmm, popped corn
The best part, of course, was seeing Kevin and Scott on stage and listening to some very funny (and sometimes crude) stories. I now know more than I ever wanted to about decapitated heads and the handheld devices men use for recreation (and I’m not talking about mobile devices). It was a good time and I’d do it again.
