old cincinnati warehouse

Old Cincinnati warehouse

Posted on 1 Aug ’10 by Nikki Murray

Tom, a friend from work, practices with his band (Killer ★ Effect) in a very old warehouse. He invited us to come out, so we packed up children and headed downtown. It turned out to be a very photogenic building, as most abandoned warehouses are.

in the car headed downtown
ivy creeping up the side of a building
weird old apartment building
ducts over the street and beneath the bridge connecting two warehouses
more creeping ivy
lunkenheimer
hallway of peeling paint
there was painting peeling everwhere
this used to be a valve factory
abandoned glove
gauges
where bad little boys and girls go (cue Freddy Krueger)
not a throwback
door to nowhere, blocked for your protection
grunge
a burst of color and happy within a drab surrounding (the kids enjoyed this)
W
belt
broadcast
seatless honda
don't forget to punch your card
hooper
cracked glass
window panes
horrified
I was more concerned about falling through floors
my first thought was that this looked like a good place to roller skate
blue illumination
listening for toontown
it's empty because nothing is outgoing
old elevator
this floor was already 95°
a taste of fresh air
going up again
view of three floors
freak photography
bun warmer
who wants gum?
magazine shoot
I want windows this color
not for drinking
some old weird square tv or something
stairwell
contents under pressure
the end

You have captured this urban decay SO beautifully; it’s almost poetic.

It wasn’t hard – this place was amazing. Old and musty and definitely had a Nightmare on Elm Street quality to it in places.

I like the choice for the burst of color. Em’s shirt is the bomb…
    in my unbiased opinion.

[...] Duane was in town, Terry showed him the photos I took at the old warehouse and suggested we do a shoot there. We were overnighted some DISASTER77 gas rags, found a model, and [...]

My name is Nikki Murray and I’m a mother of two who has been buried neck-deep in code since 1998. I presently work as a user experience and interface designer for a health IT company during the daylight hours. When I’m not freelancing during my off hours, I am prowling around with a camera or recklessly maneuvering needles.
